He was the co-founder and the leader of the Black Panther Party for ego Defense. The Black Panther Party was an organization that started in October, 1966 to hang the concepts of Black Po wer, civil rights, and self defense. Huey Percy Newton went to Merritt College in Oakland, California, where he became interested in politics. He was strongly influenced by the books of Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, Frantz Fanon and Malcolm X.

I chose Huey Percy Newton because I was interested in the work that he and Bobby Seal did for the Black Panther Party. The Black Panthers do simple,yet gravid changes in the community of Oakland.
